The next event planned for "LapCats" is a visit to the Sacramento Children's Home in January 2001. It will be a chance for the children and the cats to get together for some fun.

If you have an interest in volunteering to help with the "LapCats" Program or if you know a group who could benefit from a "LapCats" visit, please contact us at telephone (916) 484-4099 or you can send an e-mail message to us at info@folsomfelines.org.

Helping Felines in Need

Would you like to help our cause but not sure how? We're looking for volunteers to:

  • Foster cats or kittens
  • Help at weekend adoption events
  • Participate in our LapCats program
  • Help raise funds
  • Follow up on adoptions
  • Check our phone message line
  • Do data entry

And volunteers with special abilities to:

  • Provide low cost spays & neuters. We're looking for people with veterinary experience who are able to donate one to two days a month to perform spays and neuters.
  • Provide legal help. We are occasionally in need of legal advice regarding corporate law, taxes, and liability.

If you're unable to donate your time, but would still like to make a difference for the cats, we appreciate cash donations--these are spent on medical services, food, and litter.

Cat of the Month--Gizmo

Gizmo is a 1 1/2-year-old black and white female tuxedo.

She was rescued in May of 2000. So why hasn't she found a home, you ask? Gizmo is incredibly sweet and loves to be held (as you can see), but she's a bit shy. She's been waiting for the right person to come along and take her home. She would do best in a home with adults or older children. She gets along fine with other cats.

Gizmo, and all of our adult cats, are tested for FELV (feline leukemia) and FIV (feline AIDS). She is spayed and current with all shots (distemper, leukemia, and rabies).
