My Meeting With the Vice Mayor

On January 24th, I met with Cindi Dow, the Vice Mayor of Folsom and part owner of the Folsom Florist on Natoma St. We had a great meeting; her views and ours are directly in line.

The population issue was one of the main issues discussed. We agreed that in order to save all of the feral cats (long-term) the source must be dealt with, i.e.,, population control. Without it, you can rescue all the animals you want and never make any progress in addressing the problem. To that end, she is interested in trying to help support a spay and neuter clinic. There may also be some funding available in Folsom's budget to help with this. Population control will be our primary focus in the next few months. In addition, the following action items were discussed:

Walter

At 14 years old, Walter is our elder statesman, our oldest feline in foster care.

Walter was found in a lady's yard. He had been someone's pet at one time because he was neutered and tame, but his owner could not be found and he was surrendered to Folsom Feline Rescue.

After a medical exam, it was determined that he

is deaf and visually impaired, but otherwise, without disease. He is completely black with long hair and golden eyes.
