Featured Feline -- Vasilly

Vasiliy is a cool, calm, and relaxed kitten. He was rescued from Fair Oaks along with three others during a trapping operation. He right fit in with living indoors as if he had been waiting to be picked up and was wondering what was taking so long.

Please contact us or stop by an adoption event if you are interested in meeting Vasilly.

Message From the President

Hello again! Lots of exciting news coming in this month, but first I wanted to give a quick adoption update. It looks like our last three kittens will be adopted this year and word has it that many (if not all) females that are being spayed are already in heat at his time. That gives us roughly  three months to try and get our adults homes before the next round of kittens. It also means that we need to trap those feral cats now before kittens are born. FSNYP certificates are being issued in small numbers so make use of them now before it is to late.

Now the exciting news. This month, FFR will begin showing available cats on "Pets with Dr. Jyl". This is a quick pet promotion done on KOVR Wednesday's noon news cast with Dewey Hopper and Dr, Jyl Rubin of Mobile Vet Connection. FFR will be participating once a month showing our cats for adoption. This will be our first public effort, other than our web site postings, to get our cats viewed by a larger audience.  This is a great opportunity to show our special needs cats as well. Secondly, this month a new organization, No More Homeless Pets in Sacramento County, was formed to address the use of euthanasia as a means to control pet populations. FFR will be working directly with this group and County Animal Control to help increase pet adoptions and the spay/neuter of pets. This marks the beginning to the end of terribly high euthanasia rates in Sacramento County.

Stay tuned for more exciting events for this year. The bar has been raised a notch, with no time to rest.  Until next time...

My wish for Merlot, now that I know him, is that he be placed in a home with lots of children, other cats, dogs, and people coming and going.  He needs to have stairs to climb, rooms to explore, things to chase, and toys to bat about.  He is an active, energetic, curious kitty.  He is not the type of kitty to be a companion for Grandma, napping on Granny's lap while she reads.  I hope Merlot finds a permanent home soon  - -  one with commotion, activity, people, pets, and room to play all day!
