To date, since we started SNYP (Spay/Neuter Your Pet) and FSNP (Feral Spay/Neuter Program) about 2 ½ years ago, we have spent over $30,000 and spayed and neutered over 600 dogs and cats, including feral cats. Calculating the number of litters of puppies and kittens that were prevented, the results are staggering! Your donations have contributed significantly and together we are making a difference.

It's a new year and we're about to launch an even bigger and better SNYP program. Towards the end of last year, we were fortunate enough to be awarded two sizable grants. One grant will be used to fund 100 feral cat spays and neuters. The other grant will be used specifically for companion cats and dogs and has allowed us to expand the SNYP program to include any city. We are no longer

limited by area! This program is now cost-free (vaccinations must be covered by the owner, unless a financial need can be shown) and is no longer restricted to low income, although our goal is obviously to target those who cannot otherwise afford to pay for the procedure.

We are absolutely ecstatic about what this means for 2004! The SNYP program will be comfortably funded to fulfill the needs of the community. With careful implementation, we can be awarded this grant indefinitely. Our focus thus turns toward FSNP…

When it comes to cats and their litters, feral cats account for the vast majority of new litters each year. It is logical when you think about it. After all, who cares for these cats? Some are fortunate enough to have caretakers who feed them, but what about their spay/neuter surgeries? Most caretakers don't have the funds to pay for these and can barely afford the ongoing food costs, as the feral colonies continue to expand.
