About my family:
I just recently got married so for now it's my husband and me and our three precious kitties, Savvy, Peppy and Riley. The funny thing is, my husband has always been allergic so he was never a cat person. But after hanging around my house so much he seems to have become a bit immune, he only takes allergy meds sometime. He never thought he'd live with a cat let alone three of them and up to 10 when I foster. My husband is a real good sport!!
Companion animals I share my home with:
I have the funniest cats but of course everyone thinks they have the funniest cats. Right? My Savvy opens doors and carries objects around the house. It's his little game to watch me come home, close all the doors then later try to find my pens, etc. Peppy is real quiet and sweet, but don't get in his way when it's time to eat. He is usually the first to start meowing to tell me it's dinner time. Riley is the last kitty I adopted into my home. He is the friendliest little guy. He is my designated house greeter, he loves all people.
Favorite hobbies:
Shopping (is that a hobby?) and making jewelry.
Favorite foods:
Pizza and ice cream and sometimes pizza-flavored ice cream, just kidding.
Favorite movies:
A tie between Napoleon Dynamite and Office Space. GOSH!!
Favorite TV shows:
CSI and The Apprentice. I don't watch too much TV but those two shows, I don't miss.
Favorite way to relax:
Other than being on vacation, going out to dinner with my husband and friends.
Book I'm currently reading:
21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership.
My first job was:
Cashier at Target.
Job (besides my own) I'd most like to try:
Start my own jewelry business.
I play the following musical instruments:
None, unless you count the kazoo. Hee hee.
Most-extreme sport or activity I've tried:
Hiking up to the peak of Half Dome in one day.
Country in the world I'd most like to visit, and why:
Egypt -- to visit the sphinx and the ancient pyramids.
My idea of a perfect vacation:
I'm such a city girl so I would say go back to New York City for a month and even then I probably wouldn't be able to do and see everything.
Most surprising fact about me:
I'm a huge New York Yankees fan and once saw them play in the World Series.
Secret skill or ability that few people know about me:
I am a creative person and enjoy art projects and jewelry making.
Causes or issues that matter most to me:
Animals and children. I once was a Big Sister to a 12-year-old girl before I started volunteering for Folsom Feline Rescue.
Current volunteer role with FFR:
Adoption volunteer, foster parent, and sales.
Why I decided to volunteer with FFR:
FFR assisted me with the rescue of approximately 10 kittens. Since FFR helped me, I thought I would assist them back and volunteer. That was a few years ago. I stick with it because the cause is very important to me. FFR supports the community in a variety of ways. Not only by helping homeless felines find loving homes but by educating the public on the proper care of felines.
What I like best about volunteering with FFR:
All of the fellow volunteers are great and very helpful.
Advice I have for other people wanting to volunteer:
If you want to volunteer but are waiting for the time to be right, I recommend just do it. Get involved. Everyone has a hectic, busy life and can make a dozen excuses for not volunteering. Once you get involved you will find that 3 hours a month really doesn't impact your personal life much, but is invaluable to the cause.
