LapCats Returns!

By  Janet Bennett

Our LapCats visits had been in remission for a few months, but we're back in the swing of things now! The cats and volunteers had a blast, as usual!

This LapCats team consisted of LapCats Malcolm, Sonny, Sam, and Maude and volunteers Tracy, Lisa, Lianna, Amanda, and Janet. We visited the Oakridge Senior Care Home in El Dorado Hills.

The residents lived in a grouping of homes in a

cul-de-sac, with on-site staff to help. They were all very excited to see the LapCats team, except for a couple seniors who had allergies or weren't feeling well.

At all three homes that we visited, the seniors came out to a family room to visit with the felines and get some "lap time." Several of the seniors fondly reminisced about their own cats that they'd had once upon a time.

LapCat, Sonny, couldn't be happier!

Malcolm, the youngest LapCat, wanted to explore everything, showing off his energy to everyone. Sonny found the most comfortable lap available and parked himself, unwilling to leave to visit the next home. Maude was the drama queen, rolling around on the floors and making sure she was the center of attention. And Sam seemed to find just the right person to snuggle with, happy to brighten someone's day.

We hope to continue our LapCats regularly each month because of the joy it brings to both the re
