Louie Adopted!
A Match Made Through the Web

By Shirley Brown

Little Louie, when first rescued,  was a "growl-y" and "hissy" gray tabby kitten who wasn't so sure he wanted to become tame. He could be aloof and withdrawn at times.

Louie was found in the Gold River area with his sister, Faye, and he spent a few weeks in foster care becoming used to human contact. He eventually warmed up to humans and he began to enjoy being petted so much that he would occasionally drool.

But Louie wasn't getting exposure at adoption events. He made

such a fuss and threw such a fit when put into the cat carrier that he wasn't taken to the weekend Petco adoptions. It was too stressful for him and for the Folsom Feline Rescue volunteers. He remained in foster care unseen by potential new owners.

However, Louie had a captivating and charming side that was revealed in his photograph. His photo was displayed on the Folsom Feline Rescue website (www.folsomfelines.org) under the category  "adoptable felines" and that's where he was discovered!

A young woman called to see him and after a 45-minute "getting-to-know-you" period at the foster home, Louie started warming up. He made passes at the woman and her friend and would rub against their hands and arch his back to be petted. He playfully bit the shirt of the friend. The young woman said that Louie reminded her of her last pet who had passed away.  It was obvious that they would make a good home for Louie and that they would be patient with him.

Louie was adopted that day and a follow-up home appointment was made with the young woman to confirm that this was the appropriate home for Louie.
