For a limited time only, Folsom Feline Rescue and Folsom Canine Rescue are offering free spay and neuter procedures for pets of Folsom City residents. This program, aptly named "SNYP" for Spay/Neuter Your Pet, will kick off in June and will only last as long as the funds are available. The goal of "SNYP" is to control pet overpopulation. Too many unwanted pets end up in animal shelters and are euthanized. Folsom Feline Rescue and Folsom Canine Rescue would like to help prevent unwanted litters.
Proof of Folsom residency is required in order to quality for "SNYP." A copy of your current utility bill is considered proof of residency. The nonprofit FFR and FCR will issue a "SNYP" certificate that can be presented to one of two approved Veterinarians in the Folsom area for payment of the spay or neuter.
Just mail a copy of your utility bill to Folsom Feline/Canine Rescue, P.O. Box 6773, Folsom, CA 95763, with a request for a "SNYP" certificate. You can also pick up a "SNYP" certificate in person at one of our weekend adoption events. Please call us at 484-4099 or 484-3787 for more information.

Walter, our senior kitty in foster care, made his transition to a peaceful place on April 26, 2001. Walter suffered from heart disease, deafness, and visual impairment and his heart condition was worsening. After consultation with the Veterinarian and with much debate and soul searching, the foster caretakers (John and Janet) determined that it was time. With the Veterinarian's help and with John comforting him in calm surroundings, Walter said his last good-bye.
But Walter would not want us to be sad. He had a full, rich life, and he left us with many wonderful memories.
Janet recalls him sitting in his cat bed on top of the file cabinet at perfect eye level with the window, watching the world outside. He was very smart and he would see

her reflection in the window when she came into the room. He would purr the moment he was touched. If he wanted to sit on a lap, he would amble across the desk and nudge gently the person sitting at the desk and then situate himself on the lap of choice for some petting time. Walter, with his warmth and affection, brought much joy to his "people."
Janet states, "We loved him very much. He reminded us of how valuable life is and the importance of appreciating every moment we have with those we love. Even though Walter was in our lives for only a short time, we learned so much from his wisdom and his kindness. He touched our lives deeply."
Memorial Page Because of this recent experience of Walter's passing, John decided to create a Memorial Page on the Folsom Feline Rescue website so that others could share their special stories or reminiscences of their deceased pets. If you would like to participate in this Memorial Page, send your story to the link at the bottom of this article.
