CatWalk 2004

"Steppin' Out for Spay and Neuter" was the catch phrase of Folsom Feline Rescue's CatWalk 2004 held on Saturday, April 3 in Folsom, California.  And in case you are wondering. . . . . . . . . no, we do not walk cats!  We walk in the walk-a-thon so that we can raise funds for FFR. 

"This was the group's fourth walk-a-thon and the most participation we have had," stated Tracy Kirsten, Chairperson of the CatWalk Committee.  "Each year we have increased the number of walkers and pledges.  This year we had 65 adults registered to walk and many brought their children and dogs.  The first walk-a-thon held in October of

2000 attracted 22 walkers and netted  $1,100."  The purpose of the first walk-a-thon was to raise money for cataract surgery for a handsome Russian Blue kitten named Victor.

The purpose of this year's walk-a-thon was to bring in pledges to support Folsom Feline Rescue's feral spay/neuter programs.  FFR provides free spay and neuter certificates for cats, both tame and feral, and for dogs.  The goal this year was to raise $5,000 and the group exceeded that

amount.  All monies collected will be used to help the local communities.  By spaying and neutering pets and ferals, FFR will take part in decreasing the numbers of unwanted litters that end up in animal shelters.

This was the first year that the fundraiser had a special event tee shirt.  The walkers looked quite festive and unified as they strolled through the area sporting identical
