On Sunday, June 30th, more than 30 walkers, their children, and pets got together to raise money for our SNYP and FNSP programs (no cost spay/neuter for pets and feral cats) by walking 5K in historic Folsom.
This was our 2nd Cat Walk. Our first one was in the Fall of 2000, when we raised over $1100 for cataract surgery for a Russian Blue kitten named Viktor (read more about Viktor). This year's Cat Walk was dedicated to continuing our no-cost spay/neuter program for low-income residents of Folsom, Orangevale, and Fair Oaks.
Controlling pet overpopulation is a major goal of ours. Thousands of unwanted cats and dogs are euthanized each year in Sacramento County alone. Each animal that we can

spay or neuter prevents potential offspring (usually 4 to 6 puppies or kittens per season) from growing up and having yet more offspring of their own. Together as a community we can break the cycle of misery caused by pet overpopulation.
Thus far, we have raised funds in the vicinity of $1600, topping last year's amount. Due to the success of this fundraiser and the need to

expand to other areas, we have decided to cover Citrus Heights as well. We are currently looking for a vet to work with in that area.
If you would like to make a contribution to our spay/neuter program, please send your donation to: Folsom Feline Rescue SNYP / FSNP Program PO Box 6773 Folsom, CA 95763-6773
May 2002 had marked our 2nd year in operation. After the Cat Walk, Remo's Pizza was gracious enough to open their doors to us on their day off so that we could celebrate our successes. It was truly amazing to see all that we've been able

to accomplish in just two short years. There isn't room enough to mention everything here, but it just goes to show what a group of people (some absolutely incredible people!) can do when they put their heads and hearts together. We have the best volunteers anyone could ask for!
As much as we've done, we know we can do even more and we're determined and dedicated to our mission and goals. We will continue to advertise and expand this neuter/spay program for as long as funding allows and until we've put an end to the overpopulation that is ultimately causing so much needless suffering for so many cats and dogs. We've already SNYP'ed over 100 dogs and cats and you can't add up the number of unborn kittens and puppies we've saved as a result. It's innumerable over the course of their lifetimes. We CAN do this because we ARE doing this today. Come join us! You can help us save their precious lives.
