The phone rings 8:30AM Monday morning at Blue Ravine Animal Hospital. Dr. Jennifer Sweet answers to a distressed client who doesn't know what to do with her cat. The client explains that she has become severely allergic to her beloved cat and can no longer keep her. The question posed to Dr. Sweet was, "…I don't know what to do…should I put my cat to sleep?"

I'm sure this is a common occurrence at most veterinary hospitals. But, the way Blue Ravine Animal Hospital handles these types of occurrences is extraordinary. Dr. Jennifer Sweet and Veterinary Technician Patti Rungo founded Blue Ravine Animal Hospital not only to be a full service veterinary hospital offering additional services such as boarding and grooming, but they also set out to exemplify compassion in the community.

After opening their doors in November of 2000 Blue Ravine Animal Hospital did not delay in making a difference in the community. Dr. Sweet and Patti actively sought out Folsom Feline Rescue to offer their services at a discounted rate for which Folsom Feline Rescue is humbly thankful. But Blue Ravine Animal Hospital helps Folsom Feline Rescue and the community in more ways than one.
When unwanted cats and kittens are surrendered at most veterinary hospitals they are either turned away and not able to accept them or they are sometimes even put to sleep. Blue Ravine Animal Hospital would never support putting a healthy, vital & friendly feline to sleep. As long as cage space permits they do everything possible to try and find the surrendered animal a home. Going even further above and beyond the call of duty, as long as resources permit, Dr. Sweet, Patti and the rest of the Staff generously attempt to nurse unwanted sick animals back to health if they think there is any chance for them. By Folsom Feline Rescue and Blue Ravine Animal Hospital working together, many unwanted felines are able to have a second chance at a healthy and satisfying life. Thanks Blue Ravine Animal Hospital for being a compassionate leader in our community, you are a step above the rest!

Dominique, a one-year-old beautiful tortoiseshell calico was rescued by one of our veterinarians, Blue Ravine Animal Hospital. She was friendly from the beginning, probably once someone's pet, now unwanted.
Nicknamed "the Dom", she is a very friendly cat looking for a new home. She loves to nurture the kittens in her foster home.
Dominique can be seen at any of our weekend adoptions, waiting for the someone who will provide her a lasting and loving home.
