This article is the first in a series that we are publishing, written by a fellow animal lover who has generously shared her stories with us. I hope you enjoy them as much as we have.

All of our animal friends touch our lives, some more so than others.
The ten-year-old cat had never been given a name. Born blind and owned by a "backyard breeder", the small cat delivered nonstop litters, every year of her life, in a chicken coop.
When first coming upon this situation, my heart broke into a million pieces, and then became appalled that any human being could be callous enough to exploit an innocent animal.
Upon removing this cat from the wretched environment, I could not move fast enough. This cat's entire life was spent in a chicken coop and now her misery was coming to an end. No more prison.

My first stop was the vet's where she was tested, given shots, and spayed. Secondly, I named her My Cherie Amore, which in French means my little dear.
This precious, petite cat has moved my heart and spirit like no other animal.
My Cherie Amore's hind feet are deformed, twisting inward. The doctor soberly stated, "So, you are aware she is blind? Did you know her hind feet are

crippled? She is not strong physically and she needs enormous amounts of TLC. Do you still intend on keeping her?"
What an absurd question.
I held her close to my heart which she owns anyway.
Drawn to rescue all cats, it is the feeble, maimed, blind, and injured cats I am most inclined to bring into my life.
My Cherie Amore is with me now as I write this. She asks for nothing but gives so much.
What could she possible learn from me? I am learning from her depths and dimensions that come only from the animal world.
My life has been wondrously touched and moved by this precious tiny creature.
I consider it an honor to have her in my life.
All of our animal friends touch our lives -- some more so than others.
