over the kitchen floor. She'll run after it, pounce on it, and then wait before snatching it up. It's her game of playing with her little "animals." Occasionally, she'll smack one hard and it will go under the stove or refrigerator. And then she'll wait, hoping somehow it will come out and be ready for another go-round. It's a cute game she plays and we love to watch her. And she gets the royal treatment from her Dad. He cleans her potty box twice daily and, yes, she seems to sense when he is going to do it, and waits...patiently..until it's spotless. As if on cue, as soon as she knows it is clean, she takes full advantage of doing whatever she does in her private, and oh so clean quarters.

She's also captured the hearts of all our neighbors because she sits in the window and watches, like a hall monitor, all the proceedings in the courtyard. I bet she can tell you when someone picks up the mail or who is going to the laundry room. And everyone loves her. On any given day, a neighbor is blowing her a kiss, or waving to her, because she's become a familiar face in the window.
If there is a happily ever after story, it is the story of Precious and all the other cats who are taken in by FFR and nurtured, fed, and loved until they can be placed in a safe, loving home. Precious has lived up to her name and we love her more each day.
We thank FFR once again for all their devotion and loving care. If not for them, we would never had the blessing and joy of being a part of Precious' life. She has enriched our family and we're forever grateful for the opportunity given us to be a part of her upbringing in a safe environment filled with love.

"In addition, we are also seeing people bringing in cats to be tested. We are identifying the FIV-infected cats. FFR has helped prevent FIV-infected cats from transmitting the disease to healthy ones."
Lisa is extremely excited and looking forward to September when she starts Vet School at UC Davis. When I asked about taking cats with her when she moves, she said, "Oh, yes! I would be a 'lost soul' without a cat in my (Continued on page 8)

Q. What vaccinations should I give cats that I trap and should I test them before letting them go?

A. I would recommend that at a minimum they get the FVRCP and Rabies. If your budget can afford it, then FeLV would be nice as well. We only do the FCRCP and Rabies for cats we trap in an effort to save as much money as we can for Spay & Neuter. We also do not test all cats. We will spot test a new area with the focus on

testing male cats, especially those that look like they have been through a few fights. If one tests positive, then we will test more often since we now know we have an infected colony. You can discuss your options with your veterinarian, weigh the pros and cons, and see what your budget can afford.
