Hard times all around. All the rescue groups and shelters are feeling the pressure. Higher pet return rates, with slow or no adoptions, is overcrowding everyone. Folsom Feline Rescue has virtually discontinued rescue operations because we have no room for more cats, as we are overwhelmed with adults we are not able to place. Luckily the kittens we were able to rescue are slowly being adopted, which will eventually relieve some pressure. Yet people are still losing their homes, and having to give up their adopted companions. Sad times for all.
If you are looking to adopt a pet, please consider a shelter or rescue. Many shelters are not fortunate enough to be no-kill and are having to euthanize many loving and adoptable animals. We can only hope that next year will be better times.
