A Cat's Way of Thinking

By Daphne Belshaw

Birdies, lizards, squirrels and snakes,
Maliciously I love to chase!

Round a rock or up a tree,
Delicious treats they make for me.

Wind through trees, the grass and dust;
In cat's domain this is a must!

Creatures dark with spindly legs. . .
Are tastier than scrambled eggs.

Those tiny mice who live in barns,
With piercing eyes I will alarm!

Tonight the moon is full and round
So I will creep close to the ground.

When sun is high I know I'll find
A secret place to hide behind!

And when I find that special treat;
To home, I will my Master greet.

What will she do with parts I bring?
Of course, my praises she will sing!

Each time I do my feline job,
Such self esteem no one can rob.

And this I do on daily basis. . .
Respect I earn, and smiling faces!
