Are you looking for something fun to do this October that will also raise funds for a great cause? Then we'd like to invite you to join us at Folsom Feline Rescue's seventh annual fundraising 5K walk-a-thon, CatWalk 2007.
CatWalk registration fees and pledges will support Folsom Feline Rescue's spay and neuter programs for companion cats and dogs, as well as feral cats.
The slogan for this year's walk is "Prevention is wiser than destruction. Please spay and neuter your pets." Thousands of unwanted cats and dogs are euthanized each year in Sacramento County's overcrowded public shelters. Each spayed or neutered animal prevents potential offspring from growing up and having offspring of their own. To date, Folsom Feline Rescue's spay and neuter programs have helped "fix" more than 3200 cats and dogs in Sacramento County.

CatWalk 2007 will be held on Saturday, October 13. Walkers start from historic Sutter Street in Folsom and walk a distance of 5K in view of the beautiful American River. It's always a fun event with lots of adults and children, babies in strollers, and dogs on leashes.
Registration is $25 per walker and includes a CatWalk t-shirt (while supplies last). Kids 12 and under walk free. Individual registrants collecting pledge checks totaling $25 or more walk free of charge.
This year we have some special fun planned for CatWalk. Walkers are encouraged to make the walk in their Halloween costumes! At the end of the walk, we'll hold a costume contest. Our judges will make a selection of the top three costumes, and those three lucky walkers will win some great prizes, such as a spa gift certificate or a night on the town with dinner and a movie.
We'll also hold a contest for the dog wearing the best costume. The winning pooch will receive a great dog-themed prize.
Walkers who collect pledge checks totaling $100 or more are eligible to participate in a drawing. The lucky winner will receive a complimentary two-night stay for two adults at the Inn at the Vines in the Napa Valley, a complimentary wine tour and tasting for two (including a complimentary bottle of wine), plus a $100 VISA gift card! (You must be present to win.)
In order to collect pledges, just ask your friends, family members, and associates to pledge a specific dollar amount for each kilometer you walk. On the day of the walk, bring your pledge form and the checks you have gathered to the event registration desk, and get ready for some fun!
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the event desk in the railroad roundtable parking lot across from the intersection of Sutter Street and Decatur in old town Folsom. The walk starts at 10:00 a.m., rain or shine.
