PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

I have great news to announce on the feral cat front. PetsMart Charities has recently awarded Folsom Feline Rescue a $10,000 grant to help fund spay and neuter surgeries for feral cats. In addition, we have received funding to continue our companion animal spay and neuter program (SNYP). We'll offer low-cost spay and neuter services to help extend our funding.

I am thrilled to see these programs thrive. With the discontinuation of the Maddie's/CVMA program in 2002, Folsom Feline Rescue was ready to step up, and we began our own programs because we felt it was important to keep moving forward with animal spay and neuter. It's a very effective way to reduce the number of animals in our shelters and the number of homeless pets on the streets.

For those of you who have received our newsletter in the past, you will notice a new look this quarter, thanks to our new editor and marketing director, Laurie Rich. I hope you like it as much as I do. Thanks for reading. 'Til next time.

FEATURED FELINE

This Lovely Lady is Ready for a Forever Home

Sovann, a beautiful Siamese cat, was found stray in a Folsom neighborhood. She was rescued three times from the roof of a house, and then ultimately rescued by city animal control. No owner could be found, so she is now looking for a forever home where she can spend the rest of her life. She is a wonderful, loving companion, born 8/16/1990. She's catbox trained, spayed, and up-to-date with routine shots. She does not like other cats but will tolerate an older, easy-going one. She doesn't do well with dogs, and would prefer a quiet home without children.

If you'd like to meet Sovann, please contact Folsom Feline Rescue at (916) 484-4099 or email info@folsomfelines.org.
