The Funny Side of Cats
Beginning with this issue of The Kitty Scoop, you'll find a collection of kitty-related photos, cartoons, and humorous items that have crossed our desks in the past few months. Because many of these items are distributed via email without indication of who created them, many may not have credits. Where authorship was indicated, credit will be noted.
We hope these will give you a smile! And, if you have something to share for publication in future issues, please send them to kittyscoop@folsomfelines.org.

Wrapping Presents with a Cat
- Clear large space on table for wrapping present.
- Go to closet to get bag in which present is contained; shut door.
- Open door and remove cat from closet.
- Go to cupboard and retrieve rolls of wrapping paper.
- Go back and remove cat from cupboard.
- Go to drawer; collect tape, scissors, and labels.
- Lay out presents and wrapping materials on table.
- Go back to drawer to get ribbon; remove cat from drawer.
- Remove present from bag.
- Remove cat from bag.
- Open box to check present.
- Remove cat from box, replace present.
- Lay out wrapping paper.
- Attempt to smooth out paper; realize cat is underneath. Remove cat.
- Cut paper to size, keeping close eye on cat to ensure he or she is not in vicinity.
- Turn away to set down scissors.
- Throw away first sheet of paper, which has now been torn by cat.
- Distract cat by putting him or her in the bag present came in. Cut second sheet of paper.
- Place present on paper.
- Lift up edges of paper to seal present. Wonder why edges don't reach. Realize cat is between present and paper. Remove cat.
- Place present on paper; seal paper with tape, making corners as neat as possible.
- Turn to get ribbon. Wonder about suspicious crinkly noises behind you.
- Remove wrapping paper from present, which now includes teeth and claw marks from enthusiastic cat attack.
- Repeat steps 18-23 until you come to last sheet of paper.
- Decide to decrease risk of losing last sheet of paper. Put all wrapping materials in bag, along with present, and head for room with lockable door.
- Once inside room, lock door, remove paper and materials from bag.
- Remove cat from bag, unlock door, put cat outside room, close door, and relock.
- Lay out last sheet of paper. (This will be difficult in the small space of your bathroom, but do your best.)
- Discover cat has already torn last sheet of paper. Unlock door; go out and hunt through various cupboards, looking for a sheet of last year's paper. Remember that you don't have any, because cat helped with wrapping presents last year as well.
- Return to bathroom, lock door. Unlock door and put cat outside. Relock door, sit on toilet, and try to make torn sheet of paper look presentable by smoothing with hands.
- Seal box, wrap with torn paper. Repair by very carefully sealing with tape.
- Tie with ribbon; decorate with bows to hide worst areas.
- Attach label. Sit back and admire your handiwork. Congratulate yourself on completing a difficult job.
- Unlock door; go to kitchen to make drink and feed cat.
- Spend 15 minutes looking for cat until coming to obvious conclusion.
- Return to bathroom. Untie ribbon, unwrap present, and remove cat from box.
- Go to store and buy a gift bag.
