FFR'S CATWALK 2007

The morning was foggy and a bit chilly, but animal lovers and supporters of Folsom Feline Rescue came out for CatWalk 2007, a 5K walk to raise funds for spay and neuter services for companion cats and dogs, as well as feral cats.

Walkers from all age groups -- some of them dressed in their Halloween costume! -- made the 5K walk, along with several canine companions. The group raised more than $3100 that will be used to spay and neuter cats and dogs, decreasing the number of animals being born, and ultimately the numbers that are euthanized due to lack of homes and lack of shelter space.

Just prior to the walk, a drawing was held for participants who had collected pledges totaling $100 or more. The lucky winner, Brenna Morck, received a complimentary two-night stay for two adults at the Inn at the Vines in the Napa Valley, a complimentary wine tour and tasting for two, and a $100 VISA gift card.

Immediately following the walk, a contest was held for walkers dressed in Halloween costume. Several fun prizes were awarded; the grand prize went to FFR volunteer Shirley Brown, who was dressed in a pumpkin costume.

Afterwards, a celebration lunch was held at Yager's Bar and Grill on Sutter Street. John Bennett, FFR President, thanked all of the walkers, sponsors, and volunteers and then presented awards to the walkers who had gathered the most pledges. This year's top pledge gatherers were Robin Smith, Larry Barrows, and Daphne Belshaw.

Janet Bennett, FFR Vice President, said that with the money collected at CatWalk 2007, Folsom Feline Rescue can offer approximately 100 spay/neuter procedures to the community.

FFR would like to sincerely thank this year's CatWalk participants for helping us take steps to end pet overpopulation.
