RACHAEL CLIFFORD

Name:

Rachael Clifford

Birthplace:

Chester, Pennsylvania

About my family:

One niece named Keira who is 3-1/2. A brand new godchild Lucas James who is 3 weeks. In California I have my aunt and uncle and 4 cousins. Most of my family is in Pennsylvania, my grandmom, sister, brothers, and lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. My dad lives in DC.

Companion animals I share my home with:

I have a 4-year-old black Shih poo (Shih Tzu Poodle mix) named Chloe and a 3 year old orange spotted tabby cat named Carmel Apple. They are my children.

Favorite hobbies:

First and foremost hanging out with my pets. I enjoy reading, watching movies and TV, painting my nails, shopping, cooking, baking, and organizing.

Favorite foods:

Lima beans and homemade soup for sure are my most comfort foods. I love pizza, salad, and of course Mexican.

Favorite movies:

Troop Beverly Hills, The Holiday, National Lampoon European Vacation

Favorite TV shows:

Anything on the Animal Planet, NCIS, Hoarders, Nancy Grace

Favorite way to relax:

Being with Chloe and Carmel, cooking soup, and painting my nails.

Books I'm currently reading:

None because I am reading a lot of stuff for school right now but I have a stack of books waiting for me.

My first job was:

CVS

Job (besides my own) I'd most like to try:

Working on an animal reserve or being a spy.

I play the following musical instruments:

I have no musical ability but I love listening to music.

Most-extreme sport or activity I've tried:

Wakeboarding

Country in the world (besides the U.S.) I'd most like to visit, and why:

Ireland. It looks beautiful and I have always wanted to go there. My favorite author, Marian Keyes, is Irish so that is why I am so interested in it.

My idea of a perfect vacation:

Something including relaxing, great food, and sightseeing. There are so many places I want to visit and see so I can't narrow it down. I hope to make it to many places around the world someday.

Most surprising fact about me:

I am really aggressive which is probably not how people see me when they first meet me.

Secret skill or ability that few people know about me:

I get my clothes and shoes repaired and altered! It surprises a lot of people but I am able to keep the stuff that I love and save money by making it last longer.

Causes or issues that matter most to me:

Animals and people. I want a safe, healthy, and happy world with equal rights for all.

Current volunteer role with FFR:

Foster mom and adoptions

Why I decided to volunteer with FFR:

I love love love cats and always have. I enjoy helping them and making sure they find a great home where they can be pampered and spoiled like they should be.

What I like best about volunteering with FFR:

Meeting all of the different cats. Their behaviors and looks are all so different. It's amazing! The people are ok too.  :)

A favorite story about my volunteer experience:

When I took my first set of foster cats to adoptions and a family was waiting there to adopt Prints. They saw her on the FFR website and wanted her. It was a purrfect match. I was so happy to see her go. I'm sure she's a princess now and she should be.

Other community groups/activities (besides FFR) I'm involved with:

I try to do a lot through work. Right now since I am in school I backed off from everything except FFR. I have done Habitat for Humanity, organizing collections for food banks, meal delivery through church, and many more. I try to donate to a lot of causes even if it is just 5 or 10 dollars but I think the best way to give back is to give my time and presence to someone or something that needs it.

Advice I have for other people wanting to volunteer:

You should! I think everyone should volunteer. We are all rich by world standards. It is important to give back some of what you have as well as learn about those less fortunate than yourself. It doesn't have to be with FFR. Just think about something you are passionate about and help. It's easy and only takes a few hours a month.
