Folsom Feline Rescue Joins 24PetWatch Microchip Program

FOLSOM, Calif., March 1, 2005 - Folsom Feline Rescue, a volunteer, non-profit, California tax-exempt organization dedicated to feline rescue, announced that they have switched to 24 PetWatch as their microchip provider.  The microchip, which lasts for the cat’s lifetime, offers a way to identify lost pets and find owners faster. This tiny computer chip, with an identification number programmed into it, is simply injected under the skin of the cats.  It is a permanent, positive identification that cannot be lost, altered or intentionally removed.

In late April of 2004, Pethealth Services (USA) Inc. began distribution of a non-ISO compliant microchip under the brand name 24PetWatch (www.24petwatch.com).  This initiative is designed to increase the number of animal welfare and veterinary organizations utilizing a microchip recovery program by providing lower cost technology along with a more accurate database registry.

The 24PetWatch non-ISO microchip is easily detected and read by HomeAgain, AVID and Crystal Tag readers.  The 24PetWatch non-ISO microchip has a 10-digit identification code that always begins with the prefix 0A1 (zero A one) and is easily identifiable on the scanners.  The other seven digits can be alpha or numeric characters.

If you encounter one of these microchips, please contact 24PetWatch by calling (866) 597-2424 toll-free.  Pet Recovery Specialists are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to assist you in any pet recovery situation.

The 24PetWatch Microchip Recovery Program was designed with an emphasis on lost animal recovery and affordability.  24PetWatch is the only North America-wide, manufacturer-neutral microchip registry that does not charge a registration fee.  In addition, it is the only microchip registry that defines robustness as the ability to accurately link a pet's microchip number to its actual owner or guardian.  Other U.S. microchip companies have defined database robustness as the ability to link the microchip number to the implanting agency.  We believe this is a less efficient means of reuniting lost pets with their owner and that animal welfare organizations and veterinary clinics should not be required to maintain their own microchip database registry.

To obtain more information about the micro-chip service or to find out about adopting from Folsom Feline Rescue, you can access their website at www.folsomfelines.org, or contact the group at (916) 484-4099.  The mailing address for Folsom Feline Rescue is P.O.
