"LapCats" to Visit Folsom Convalescent
Hospital
10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2000
Folsom Feline Rescue (FFR) will bring their "LapCats" to visit
residents
of Folsom Convalescent Hospital on Saturday, November 18, 2000. Folsom
Convalescent Hospital, located at 510 Mill Street in Folsom, will open
their Daisy Room for the felines and the volunteers during the coffee
hour.
The "LapCats" are friendly, sociable cats that the residents
can hold and pet. Ten FFR volunteers will circulate among the seniors to
find those individuals who want to hold or pet a "LapCat."
Janet and John Bennett, cofounders of FFR, plan to bring their cat Sonny
to the Saturday morning event. Sonny was a favorite with the College
Oaks Nursing Home residents when "LapCats" held their debut in
September. The residents of College Oaks were delighted to see and hold
all the kitties that came to visit.
In the month of December, the "LapCats" and volunteers will
travel to the Sacramento Children's Home to visit the children who live
there.
Folsom Feline Rescue is a nonprofit corporation staffed solely by
volunteers. The primary objectives of FFR include: 1.) rescue of
abandoned and unwanted cats; 2.) spay and neuter to prevent
overpopulation; 3.) routine medical care; and 4.) placement in
responsible, caring, selected permanent homes. The "LapCats"
Program is part of their community outreach and education effort.
If you or your group would like information about the "LapCats"
Program or information on how to adopt a cat or how to volunteer, you
can contact FFR at (916) 365-4900. You can also get information about
the group through their website which is www.folsomfelines.org. |
